During the period covered by the latest weekly United States Mint numismatic product sales report, the four week ordering window for the 2013-W Reverse Proof Gold Buffalo Coins concluded. A new product featuring the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Dollar also made its debut.
The US Mint began accepting orders for the Reverse Proof Gold Buffalo on August 8, 2013. Sales would take place only during a four week ordering window, which concluded on September 5, 2013. Collectors had an enthusiastic response to this special product created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of James Earle Fraser’s classic coin design. Within the first 30 minutes of availability, sales exceeded the amount of regular proof 2013 Gold Buffalo coins ordered in more than two months. On the following day, a sales odometer posted on the product page listed orders of 21,009. After the weekend, sales had reached 24,883 units.
For the remainder of the sales period, the odometer was updated each week day with a new total. The sales changes between updates ranged from a low of 263 units to a high of 2,548 units. During the course of the offering, the US Mint also sold 1,000 units from their booth at the ANA convention on both August 13 and August 16.
For the final days of availability, sales moved up by 1,683 units, 1,434 units, and 1,924 units to conclude at 47,836. This sales total is preliminary and indicated as an approximation of orders accepted through all sales channels. It will be subject to adjustments due to order cancellations and returns. As it stands, the final indicated sales figure is far below the high for a numismatic issue of the series established by the 2006 Proof at 246,267 units, but well above the low of 9,074 units for the one ounce 2008-W uncirculated coin.
On September 3, the US Mint began accepting orders for the 2013 Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Discovery Set. This product includes one uncirculated $1 coin along with information and activities targeted towards children aged 8-12. Opening sales reached just 1,460 out of the 20,000 product limit. The US Mint has indicated that a more upscale product including the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Dollar will be released later this year.
The complete US Mint numismatic product sales report appears below. Unless otherwise noted, these figures are compiled through September 8, 2013. The first number column represents total sales through the reporting date, and the second number column represents the change in sales since the last report. Products listed in bold make their debut on this report. Products with sales followed by an asterisk (*) are no longer available from the United States Mint. Currently available US Mint products can be found online at http://catalog.usmint.gov/

Perhaps it’s time (for the U.S. Mint) to end sales for the 2012 Proof Platinum American Eagle. While they’re at it, end it for the 2013 as well.
I can’t wait for the 2014 first spouse coins to come out 🙂
@ Bilbo
My, you’ve got a wait. Why not get past the five 2013 issues first!
Everyone may be “golded out” with the reverse proof buffaloes and those that are not.
Think “popular” and “collectible”….
@ silverhawk
That WAS sarcasm…since it’s so late in 2013 and we haven’t even seen on sale dates.
