The latest weekly United States Mint numismatic product sales report includes an updated sales figure for the 2014 American $1 Coin and Currency Set. Many collectors have been anxiously awaiting sales data on the set since it was confirmed that a special enhanced uncirculated finish was used for the $1 coin included in the set.
The US Mint had opened sales for the American $1 Coin and Currency Set on November 20, 2014. At first glance, it simply seemed to be a unique packaging of a 2014 Native American Dollar and a $1 Federal Reserve Note. The US Mint’s press release and product information pages originally described the coin as carrying an “uncirculated finish,” a terminology used to describe the finish used for other current numismatic products such as the 2014 Uncirculated Coin Set.
At the onset, some collectors noticed the appearance of the term “enhanced uncirculated” on images of the packaging. When sets began to arrive early the following week, a unique appearance to the coins was confirmed. The US Mint subsequently provided official confirmation and described the production process and three different finishes utilized for the coin release. As word began to spread about the unique nature of the coin included in the set, sales spiked and product was listed as “out of stock” on the US Mint’s website.
Last week, debut sales through November 23, 2014 had reached 9,720 units. This reflected sales for the initial few days of availability before the first sets started to arrive in the hands of collectors and the special nature of the product was confirmed. The updated sales figure through the reporting date of November 3o shows an increase of 4,353 units to reach cumulative sales of 14,073. This jump in sales actually occurred in less than a day since the product went to “out of stock” on the US Mint’s website on November 24 and since then has been unavailable to order.
At time this article was published the product still shows as “currently out of stock” on the US Mint’s website. With more widespread information about the 2014 Enhanced Uncirculated Native American Dollar included in the set, if and when the product becomes available to order again many collectors will be ready to pounce. There is a product limit of 50,000 units established and no household ordering limits indicated.
The complete US Mint numismatic product sales report appears below. The figures are compiled through November 30, 2014. The first number column represents total sales through the reporting date, and the second number column represents the change in sales since the last report. Products with sales followed by an asterisk (*) are no longer available from the United States Mint. Currently available US Mint products can be found online at http://catalog.usmint.gov/

Don’t you mean 2014 Platinum Eagle not 2013?
Sure are A LOT of products offered by the U.S. Mint! Scrolling down from the Buffalo to the Everglades proves it.
Thanks Mr Z for furnishing this very important statistical info to the collecting community. I personally look forward to it every week.

Is this the first time that the Denver mint strikes an enhanced uncirculated coin?
Are these the same enhanced finished as the ones from SF?
