Today, August 20, 2009 at 12:00 Noon ET, the United States Mint will begin selling James K. Polk Presidential Dollar Rolls. The offering coincides with the coin’s official launch and release into circulation as the eleventh coin of the Presidential Dollar coin series.
The James K. Polk Dollar features a portrait of the President designed by Susan Gamble and sculpted by Charles Vickers. The obverse inscriptions include “11th President” and the years of his presidential term “1845-1849.” The reverse design features the Statue of Liberty as designed and sculpted by Don Everhart. This reverse will be used in common for the entire series.
The US Mint will sell individual 25-coin rolls from either the Philadelphia or Denver Mint. Each roll will come in a custom designed US Mint wrapper, which denotes the issue, mint, and face value of the coins inside. The rolls will be priced at $35.95 plus shipping and handling charges.

a friend has a Polk coin with the writing backwards on the edge of the coin. Do you know of this. tks
Do you mean backwards as in upside down, or as in mirror image? If the former, it would not be an error since heads-tail orientation is random for circulation strike dollars.
If the later, I have never heard of this and can’t imagine how it would happen. In this case, I would contact someone like Ken Potter to report and authenticate the error.
