Once again, the Proof American Silver Eagle—with special 30th-anniversary edge—is the big seller for the week, although its overall pace of sales continues to slow. During the week ending September 25, the Proof ASE sold 40,786 units; last week (ending October 2), sales slowed to 24,391 units.
U.S. Mint Proof Sets of 2016 moved back up to second place, with 7,895 sets sold last week—a boost from the previous week’s figure of 5,395. The Standing Liberty 2016 Centennial Gold Coin dropped from second to third place, with 4,029 units sold (in comparison to the previous week’s 20,462). The 99.99% gold SLQ posted a solid figure of 53,378 its inaugural week; sales slowed dramatically for a few days but improved when the Mint lifted the household order limit on September 21. As of the week ending October 2, the SLQ has sold a total of 79,367 pieces, close to 80% of its mintage limit of 100,000.
The 2016 U.S. Mint Silver Proof Set (3,650 units sold) and Uncirculated Set (2,496 units sold) round off the fourth and fifth rankings for the past week.
Sales for the Theodore Roosevelt National Park quarter bags and rolls are adjusted slightly downward on this week’s Mint report. Moving off the report for the first time this year are the Lou Hoover First Spouse gold coin, the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge quarter bags and rolls, and the Acadia National Park three-coin sets.
