2015 American Eagle 1 oz. Gold Coin.
This week’s U.S. Mint sales numbers are in and gold has made a strong showing. The commodity has been strengthening lately, with it’s value per ounce resting consistently above the $1,170 mark in recent days, after falling as low as $1106.30 at the start of October. This upward trajectory caused the Mint to raise its prices on gold coins this week, in keeping with its pricing structure for products composed of precious metals.
The biggest surge in sales this week came from the 2015 American Eagle 1 oz. Gold Proof Coin, which moved an impressive 1,582 units after selling only 3 the week before. This is especially notable considering the fact that the coin currently retails at $1,510 a piece. All of the American Eagle gold Proof coins experienced a significant leap in demand this week.
The 2015 American Liberty High Relief Gold Coin also got a boost, selling 450 pieces, more than double its total for the previous week. Its cumulative total now stands at 42,920 of a possible 50,000-unit mintage.
The Mint’s most recent releases, the 2015 Bombay Hook ATB quarter 3-Coin Set and the 2015 Bombay Hook 5 oz. Silver Uncirculated Coin, sold 282 and 938 units this week, respectively.
The top three sellers this week were the 2015 American Eagle Silver Proof Coin (9,970), the 2015 U.S. Mint Proof Set (7,968), and the 2015 U.S. Mint Silver Proof Set (3,316).
