The United States Mint has informed their network of authorized purchasers that the 2014 Shenandoah National Park 5 oz Silver Bullion Coins are temporarily sold out. The Mint will be striking additional coins which will be made available for sale at a later date.
The America the Beautiful 5 oz Silver Bullion Coins were authorized under Public Law 110-456. The coins replicate the designs of the America the Beautiful Quarters on 5 oz .999 fine silver bullion coins with a diameter of 3 inches and nominal face value of 25 cents. As with other United States Mint bullion programs, the coins are distributed through a network of authorized purchasers who are able to acquire the coins based on the market price of silver plus a fixed mark up.
The bullion coins featuring the Shenandoah National Park design originally went on sale May 15, 2014. The latest available data indicates that sales have reached 20,000 units.
The first bullion release of the series for this year featuring Great Smoky Mountains National Park went on sale March 17, 2014 and was announced as temporarily sold out on April 21. Sales were resumed a few weeks later and have now reached 29,000 units.
On June 12, the US Mint began sales of the Arches National Park 5 oz Silver Bullion Coin, which has received orders for 18,300 units.
Forthcoming releases for the bullion series include the Great Sand Dunes National Park design in August and the Everglades National Park design in November.
