The Bulgarian National Park has released the second silver commemorative coin within the series Bulgarian Folktales. The first coin in the series was issued last year and featured the fairy tale “Koose Bosse”. The present release features “The Lad and the Wind”.
The obverse design features the logo of the Bulgarian National Bank with inscriptions ‘БЪЛГАРСКА НАРОДНА БАНКА’ (Bulgarian National Bank), the face value ‘5 ЛЕВА’ (BGN 5), and the year ‘2012’.
The reverse design by Evgenia Tsankova carries a color depiction of the fairy tale “The Lad and the Wind”. The inscriptions around the circumference include ‘БЪЛГАРСКИ НАРОДНИ ПРИКАЗКИ’ (Bulgarian Folk Tales) and ‘МОМЧЕ И ВЯТЪР’ (The Lad and the Wind).
Each coin is struck in 50% silver with a partially colored reverse design. The diameter is 38.61 mm and the weight is 23.33 grams. The mintage for this release is 4,000 pieces. The coins may be purchased at Bulgarian National Park cash desks for BGN 48.
