Silver
As of March 28, 2017, the U.S. Mint’s authorized purchasers (APs) have bought 7,662,500 American Eagle silver bullion coins. 55,000 of the coins were sold during the past week, which marks a significant drop from the reported 765,000 sold during the prior report.
The Mint has broken its three-week streak of no reported sales for the 2017 America the Beautiful Effigy Mounds National Monument 5-ounce bullion coins; unfortunately, it’s with a very disappointing figure. The latest Mint report states 200 were sold last week, for a total of 1,000 ounces of silver.

The value of an ounce of silver is up by 63 cents since Tuesday of last week, ending the day at $17.94 according to the London Bullion Market Association. Silver’s average last week, Monday through Friday, was $17.46 per ounce, up slightly from the previous week’s average of $17.16.
Gold
In its latest online report, the Mint has noted sales of 5,000 ounces of American Eagle gold bullion coins last week, all in the full 1-ounce size. No sales of fractional AGEs are reported for the period. The Mint’s year-to-date total for American Gold Eagles is 165,000 ounces.
American Buffalo 1-ounce gold bullion coins sold 2,000 units last week, down from the previous report’s 3,000 coins sold. The 2017 total for American Gold Buffalo coins is 54,000 ounces of gold.

The value of an ounce of gold rose $15.65 since last Tuesday, to $1,257.25. Gold’s average last week, Monday through Friday, was $1,243.61, a modest increase over the previous week’s average of $1,213.31.
Platinum
The sales total for the 2017 American Eagle one-ounce platinum bullion coins is 20,000 units. The value of an ounce of platinum is up $15.00 compared to this time last week, and is now at $977.00. The metal’s average last week, Monday through Friday, was $965.80, up a little from $944.60 the previous week.
Palladium
In anticipation of the U.S. Mint’s first-ever palladium bullion coin, Coin Update is now tracking palladium values in this report. The metal is currently at $803.00 per ounce according to the London Bullion Market Association, up $26.00 from last week’s value of $777.00. The average value of an ounce of palladium last week was $795.40, up from the previous week’s average of $757.60. ❑
