The Perth Mint has unveiled Australia’s official gold and silver commemorative coins issued in honor of the birth of Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge. Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, became proud parents of their second child, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, on May 2, 2015 at St Mary’s Hospital in London.
The reverse design of the coin features a depiction of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge cradling and gazing lovingly at their newborn baby girl, with HRH Prince George by their side. The image is encircled by a ribbon tied in a bow at the base. Inscriptions read “Celebrating the Birth of the Royal Baby” and “2015” with the Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark.
The obverse of the coin features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizbaeth II along with the “2015” date and legal tender denomination.
The 99.9% pure 1 oz silver proof coin has a diameter of 40.60 mm and maximum mintage of 5,000 pieces. The 99.99% pure 1/4 oz gold proof coin featuring the same design has a diameter of 20.60 mm and maximum mintage of 1,000 pieces.
Each coin is housed in a display case with a shipper including the name and date of birth of the new princess. A numbered certificate of authenticity is also included.
