The United States Mint has started accepting orders for the America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins featuring Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial located in Ohio. This is the seventeenth overall release for the numismatic series of five ounce silver coins featuring the designs of the America the Beautiful Quarters.
The reverse design of the coin features the statue of Master Commandant Oliver Hazard Perry with the Peace Memorial visible in the distance. This view representative of the national site was designed and sculpted by Don Everhart. The obverse of the coin features the portrait of George Washington designed by John Flanagan for the original 1932 Washington Quarter.
Each coin is struck in 5 troy ounces of .999 fine silver. Incused edge lettering provides an indication of the precious metal weight and fineness “.999 FINE SILVER 5.0 OUNCE”. The coins carry an uncirculated finish and bear the “P” mint mark for Philadelphia.
A maximum mintage of 25,000 pieces will apply to each of the 2013-P America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins. Pricing is established at $179.95 for the start of sales. As with other precious metals products, the price remains subject to potential change.
