(Newport Beach, California) — The Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) is making a donation on behalf of coin collectors and dealers to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). PCGS created a special program it calls “Submissions for a Cure” that offers special pink labels and pink gaskets created specifically for the U.S. Mint’s Breast Cancer Awareness Coin Program.
The U.S. Mint will release a $5 pink gold coin, a $1 silver coin, and a copper-nickel half dollar coin — each in both Proof and Uncirculated finishes — on March 15, 2018. A portion of each purchase is donated automatically to the BCRF.
PCGS is helping collectors get more involved through its “Submissions for a Cure” program. Collectors who get their BCA program coins graded by PCGS can opt for a special label and pink coin gasket made specifically for the U.S. Mint’s coin program in partnership with BCRF. PCGS is donating 50% of all label and gasket sales to BCRF. This means that the more coins collectors and dealers submit, the more they help raise money for education and research through BCRF. PCGS Collectors Club Members and PCGS Authorized Dealers can submit more coins to give BCRF a better chance to improve outcomes and save lives.
The label’s obverse shows the Breast Cancer Research Foundation logo and pink ribbon. PCGS Collectors Club Members and PCGS Authorized Dealers will get a pink-colored gasket for the first time. Colored gaskets have been available before, but only to bulk submission dealers programs.
The label’s reverse shows the year, mint mark, denomination, certification details and grade on a pink field. All coins can be graded with the PCGS First Strike if they are eligible to receive the PCGS First Strike label.
Information about submission guidelines and fees for the special labels can be found online at the website of the PCGS, and submission information and guidelines for First Strike designation labels is at its First Strike designation page.
All coins are also eligible for PCGS Gold Shield. Information about submission information and guidelines for PCGS Gold Shield protection is at the website of PCGS.
“I’m really excited about this program. These special BCRF labels for the 2018 Breast Cancer Awareness Coin Program are a great opportunity for PCGS to work with collectors and dealers to make a positive difference in the world. We’re so excited to be working with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and we’re hoping this is just the beginning,” said Mark Stephenson, vice president of PCGS, a division of Collectors Universe.
