The U.S. Mint held a launch ceremony yesterday for the 2016 National Park Service Commemorative Coins at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. The event took place from noon to 1 p.m. and was attended by the Mint’s Principal Deputy Director Rhett Jeppson, National Park Foundation President Will Shafroth, and N.P.S. Deputy Director Peggy O’Dell.
The Mint has shared images of the ceremony, which included sales of the new coins and an appearance by a plush Theodore Roosevelt. First day sales totals for the new commemoratives are available here. Photos of the proceedings are posted below.
