On September 1, 2010, the Bulgarian National Bank will release a partially gold plated silver commemorative coin for “125 Years of the Unification of Bulgaria“.
The obverse of the coin features the Bulgarian National Bank logo with the year “1879” included on the ribbon. Surrounding inscriptions include ‘БЪЛГАРСКА НАРОДНА БАНКА’ (Bulgarian National Bank), the year of issue ‘2010’, and the face value ‘10 ЛЕВА’ (10 leva).
The coin’s reverse features the stamp of the Bulgarian Secret Central Revolutionary Committee founded in Plovdiv in 1885. The stamp is plated in gold. An inscription reads ‘125 ГОДИНИ ОТ СЪЕДИНЕНИЕТО НА БЪЛГАРИЯ’ (125 Years of the Unification of Bulgaria).
Simeon Krastev and Ivan Cholakov are credited for the artistic design.
Each coin is struck in proof quality with a composition of 92.5% silver and partial gold plating. The weight is 23.33 grams and the diameter is 38.61 mm. The issue is limited to a mintage of 5,000.
The new commemorative coins will be available at Bulgarian National Bank cash desks for BGN 60, including VAT.
This will represent the third Bulgarian commemorative coin issued during 2010. The previous issues for this year featured 140 Years of Bulgarian Exarchate and the Belogradchik Rocks.
