The Perth Mint has released an innovative coin shaped like the Australian map and featuring the Kookaburra. This represents the first release within a new series of map shaped coins.
The reverse design of the coin depicts the Kookaburra resting on a fence, with a colored bush scene in the background. The inscriptions include “Kookaburra”, “1 oz 999 silver”, and the “2012” date. The obverse features the Ian Rank Broadley effigy of Quen Elizabeth II, with the coin’s monetary denomination of “1 Dollar”.
The coins have a maximum diameter of 40.60 mm and thickness of 4.52 mm. The weight is 31.135 grams or 1 troy ounce. The mintage is limited to 6,000 pieces world wide.
Each coin is housed in a display case with a custom designed shipper, and accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
