The United States Mint has started accepting orders for a number of numismatic products featuring the Acadia National Park Quarter. This coin represents the thirteenth release of the ongoing America the Beautiful Quarters Program.
The reverse design of the quarter includes a view of the Bass Harbor Head Light House, which incorporates representative elements of the park including the lighthouse, the coastline, pine trees, and the ocean. Inscriptions surrounding the design include “Acadia”, “Maine”, “2012”, and “E Pluribus Unum”.
On the obverse of the coin is the 1932 portrait of George Washington designed by John Flanagan. This design is used in common for each issue of the series. Inscriptions read “United States of America”, “Liberty”, “In God We Trust”, and “Quarter Dollar”.
On June 11, 2012, the US Mint began sales of numismatic bags and rolls containing circulating quality examples of the Acadia National Park Quarter. The 100-coin bags are available from either the Philadelphia or Denver Mint and are priced at $34.95 each. Two roll sets, which contain one 40-coin roll from each mint, are priced at $32.95. Both products come in special packaging which indicates the quarter design, state abbreviation, mint mark, and face value of the contents.
On June 12, 2012, sales of the America the Beautiful Three Coin Set featuring the Acadia Quarters went on sale.
