At noon today, the U.S. Mint will begin taking orders for the 5-ounce America the Beautiful Theodore Roosevelt National Park coins. The current price is $149.95 (subject to fluctuations in the value of silver, currently $17.76 per ounce), and there is no household order limit.
Struck in .999 fine silver, the coins will bear the Philadelphia (P) mintmark. Each coin is enclosed in a protective capsule within a presentation-quality case, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Collectors vary widely in their predictions of how well this edition of the 5-ounce silver Uncirculated ATB coins will sell. There seems to be a general agreement, however, that the beauty of the design makes the Theodore Roosevelt National Park issue worth having.
