1,182 Bags and roll orders, with a few left over (Philly) and 57,000 (and some) potential boxes. That is a dramatic downturn in early orders for quarters for the US Mint. Hard to believe it, but less than 2000 collectors got in on the first wave of US Mint bags and rolls, which is traditionally where the errors are found. However, the quality control on these is strict, and not even an occasional die crack is being sold on EBAY. So don't expect doubled dies and such. This may be the most overhyped series in years, as state quarters burnout has struck down enthusiasm. The first uncirculated, as well as the proofs, are indeed beautiful thus making it a true irony: the prettiest quarters in years are the least sold. How tragic for the mint, for the short term. Once the big silver rounds are seen, there will be followers of the actual quarters, and lots of followers, too.
