The Perth Mint has started accepting orders for the Australian Lunar Series II 2014 Year of the Horse 1 oz Silver Proof High Relief Coin. Both the obverse and reverse of the limited mintage coin are rendered in stunning high relief.
Those born within the date range of January 31, 2014 to February 18, 2015 are said to be born in the Year of the Horse. People born under the influence of this sign are said to be hardworking, sociable, optimistic, and energetic.
The reverse design of the coin features a depiction of two horses standing peacefully within a stylized Chinese landscape. The Chinese character for “horse” appears above with “Year of the Horse” inscribed below. On the obverse of the coin is the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The inscriptions read “Elizabeth”, “Australia”, “1 oz 999 Silver”, “2014” and “1 Dollar”.
Both the obverse and reverse designs are stuck in high relief on a thick planchet, making for a stunning display of the design.
Each coin is struck in 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver to proof quality. The diameter is 32.60 mm and the maximum thickness is 6.0 mm.
The coins are packaged in a red and black display case with illustrated shipper and numbered certificate of authenticity. No more than 7,500 of these 2014 Year of the Horse 1oz Silver Proof High Relief Coins will be released.
