The reason provided in statements by the US Mint was, "The U.S. Mint has depleted its current inventory of 2009 American Eagle one ounce bullion coins due to the continued strong demand."

Other stories stated that the US Mint continues to produce coins and will resume sales in early December when they have built a sufficient inventory.

Not necessarily. It indicates high enough demand to exhaust current inventories. Also, the last time the US Mint had to suspend bullion coin sales, they resumed them on a rationed basis. The prior suspensions and rationing caused higher premiums for the bullion coins.

This is a non-event because the US Mint will resume sales in December. 'nuff said.

Just curious, why no mention of reason for halt of production? It leaves me wondering if the suspension is because of the popularity of these coins with the American people.
