With no recent numismatic product releases, the latest weekly United States Mint numismatic product sales report will shift focus to some older releases that still linger within availability. In the most extreme case, a few products originally released back in 2009 still remain available for sale.
The longest lingering annual set products date back to 2010 and contain the first releases of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. The Mint still has available the circulating coin sets from 2010 and 2011, which have sold 32,812 and 28,582 units respectively. These sets may be useful for a beginning collector looking for the initial releases of the series. Also within annual sets, a scattering of uncirculated coin sets from prior years for both the ATB Quarters and Presidential Dollar programs remain available for sale.
Perhaps the most notable prior year annual set remaining available is the 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set, which contains the five quarters for the year struck in 90% silver. The full 14-coin 2012 Silver Proof Set had sold out unexpectedly and currently sell for a hefty premium on the secondary market. The still available 5-coin quarters set actually contains more than half of the 90% silver coins included in the full set.
The Presidential Dollar Coin Covers contain the longest lingering products within the US Mint’s current catalog. All of the releases dating back to 2009 still remain available for sale. The William Henry Harrison Cover was first released four and a half years ago on March 17, 2009. The most recent weekly sales total showed an increase of only 1 unit and stands at 30,612 from the 40,000 product limit.
Two other lines with lingering products include the Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Sets, with releases dating back to Millard Abigail Fillmore first issued in early 2010, and the America the Beautiful Quarters 3 Coin Sets, with releases dating back to Hot Springs first issued in late 2010. The first product type includes one uncirculated Presidential Dollar and one First Spouse Bronze Medal on a plastic card, while the second contains two uncirculated and one proof quarter on a plastic card. For both lines, a full run is interrupted by at least some sell outs.
The United States Mint has periodically hosted Last Chance sales for older products which will conclude sales on a specified date, but these lingering products have never been included.
The complete US Mint numismatic product sales report appears below. Unless otherwise noted, these figures are compiled through September 15, 2013. The first number column represents total sales through the reporting date, and the second number column represents the change in sales since the last report. Products with sales followed by an asterisk (*) are no longer available from the United States Mint. Currently available US Mint products can be found online at http://catalog.usmint.gov/

Do you think the mint will discontinue the 2012 FSs before the first of the 2013 FSs go on sale, presumably next month?
