Within the latest weekly United States Mint numismatic sales report, more 2012-dated products have sold out. This includes the 2012 Proof Set and 2012 Silver Proof Set, both considered core annual numismatic offerings that have a wide collector base.
Only days after the scheduled conclusion of sales for the 2011-dated annual sets, two of the 2012-dated annual sets unexpectedly sold out. This caught some collectors by surprise since the 2011 sets had been available for sale from the Mint for nearly two years. The 2012 sets were available for less than a year.
The 2012 Proof Set contains 14 different proof coins struck at the San Francisco Mint and carrying the "S" mint mark. The sets originally went on sale May 7, 2012 and have sold out as of January 3, 2013. The latest figures reported below indicate sales of 794,002 sets.
The 2012 Silver Proof Set features the five quarters, dime, and half dollar struck in a composition of 90% silver. The set is completed with the cent, nickel, and $1 coins struck in their standard compositions. All coins are struck at the San Francisco Mint and carry the "S" mint mark. These sets originally went on sale June 4, 2012 and have sold out as of January 2, 2013. The last reported sales figures are 395,443 sets.
In both cases, the last reported sales figures would represent significant mintage lows for the respective product types. The standard annual proof set has not seen a lower mintage in more than five decades. The modern silver proof set offering (1992 to present) has never had a mintage this low.
Also sold out during the period covered by the sales report is the individual one-quarter ounce 2012 Proof American Gold Eagle at last reported sales of 4,969. This joins the sold out individual one-half ounce offering for the series. Both coins do remain available as part of the 2012 American Gold Eagle Proof Four Coin Set.
The full US Mint numismatic product sales report appears below. Unless otherwise noted, the figures are compiled through January 7, 2013. The first number column represents total sales through the reporting date, and the second number column represents the change in sales since the last report. Products with sales followed by an asterisk (*) are no longer available from the United States Mint. Currently available US Mint products can be found online at http://catalog.usmint.gov/

Just checked the US Mint website. I don’t see the 2011W uncirculated Silver Eagle there anymore.
Just a note to say that I’ve found this weekly tally and commentary to be invaluable in staying abreast/ahead of the fast-moving sellouts, also in being alerted to things like the altered mintage for the 2012-S Eagle set and the mintages on the “P” mint ATB 5-ouncers. (Hello, Chickasaw!) I’ve accumulated quite a lot of 2012 quarters of various kinds, plus a little miscellaneous here and there, and I think it’s going to work out pretty well in the end. Eagerly anticipating the remaining sellouts of the “S” quarters – I see that Hawaii rolls are now backordered. 2012 is going to be an historic year for coin collectors. Thanks!
Thanks for the weekly updates, great info as always.
First paragraph says, “2012 Proof Set and 2012 Proof Set”, I think you missed the word “Silver” for one of the two.
Is this the final mintage of the 2011 gold buffalo ?
Unless there is another slight change in next week’s numbers, this could probably be considered the “last reported sales” for the product. The “final audited mintage” which would be the official number probably won’t be available for months or years.
Thanks !
Any predictions for final 2012 proof 1 oz AGE mintage?
I only collect 100 year Indians for GOLD, nuts to last years AGE mintage.
And just today, the 15th of january, the clad quarters ATB Acadia with S mint mark in rolls are SOLD OUT.
Will there be another update of the sales report today? Would be very much appreciated.
