The latest weekly United States Mint numismatic product sales report includes the debut figures for the recently released Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Dollar products and the Bess Truman First Spouse Gold Coins.
On April 13, 2015, the US Mint began accepting orders for circulating quality versions of the 2015 Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Dollars. The product options included 25-coin rolls, 100-coin bags, and 250-coin boxes containing coins from either the Philadelphia or Denver Mint. The popularity of the five-star general and thirty-fourth President provided a boost in sales volume. Across all options, opening sales accounted for sales of 2,864,800 coins. The opening sales for the previous release of the series featuring Harry S. Truman had reached 1,994,850 coins.
On April 16, the US Mint opened sales for the Bess Truman First Spouse Gold Coins. The one-half ounce 24 karat gold coins honor the First Lady during the 33rd Presidency. The obverse design features a portrait of Bess Truman with the reverse carrying a depiction of a locomotive wheel moving along a track to represent Mrs. Truman’s support for her husband during his 1948 whistle stop campaign trip for his re-election. The coins were initially priced at $790 for the proof version and $770 for the uncirculated version with a maximum mintage of 10,000 pieces established across both versions.
The opening sales for the product reached 1,155 proof and 758 uncirculated coins for a combined total of 1,913 pieces. This represents a stronger start than the previous release of the series featuring Eleanor Roosevelt, which had opened with sales of 1,810 pieces.
Elsewhere in the sales report, the 2015 Proof American Gold Buffalo makes its second weekly appearance. After debuting last week at 5,497, an additional 1,352 coins were sold, bringing the cumulative sales total to 6,849. Several products saw negative adjustments this week, including the US Marshals Gold Coins, 2015-P Homestead National Monument Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin, 2015 Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set, and the Homestead Quarter Three Coin Set.
The complete US Mint numismatic product sales report appears below. The figures are compiled through April 19, 2015. The first number column represents total sales through the reporting date, and the second number column represents the change in sales since the last report. Products listed in bold make their debut on this week’s report. Products with sales followed by an asterisk (*) are no longer available from the United States Mint. Currently available US Mint products can be found online at http://catalog.usmint.gov/

Michael,
Why would there be a 10% return rate this week for the US Marshall gold coins?
Michael, Your posts are much appreciated as to what is currently unavailable at the mint website. The “new”
website is much more frustrating to work with than the old. The new terminology is confusing and not precise.
Michael,
I’m having trouble understanding the low mintage on the E. Roosevelt gold coins. Why would the Mint produce so few of these coins which depicts one of the most well known presidential wives in history? Could you provide some insight on this seemingly odd situation? Also, shouldn’t the Mint be showing that the two coins are “sold out” instead of just taking them off the site?
