As we turn the page to a new year, the latest sales report for United States Mint numismatic products contains more products which have sold out or concluded sales.
In November, the US Mint had given notice to collectors that it would be their last chance to buy certain 2011 and 2012 dated products with sales ending dates occurring in November, December 17, and December 31. Meanwhile, many products not specifically included on the list have also sold out, presumably as the US Mint's remaining inventories had become exhausted.
Products which concluded their sales as scheduled included the 2012 commemoratives coins in mid-December. On New Year's Eve, sales concluded for many 2011-dated annual sets, the 2011 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins, 2011 Proof Gold Eagle Four Coin Set, 2011 Proof Gold Buffalo, and the remaining 2011 First Spouse Gold Coins.
Products which unexpectedly sold out include a number options for the circulating quality 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters with "S" mint mark, some options for 2012 Presidential Dollars, and even some 2012-dated annual sets.
The full US Mint numismatic product sales report appears below. Unless otherwise noted, the figures are compiled through December 31, 2012. The first number column represents total sales through the reporting date, and the second number column represents the change in sales since the last report. Products with sales followed by an asterisk (*) are no longer available from the United States Mint. Currently available US Mint products can be found online at http://catalog.usmint.gov/

Looking at the numbers I have it looks like the uncirculated SSB dollar is the lowest production commemorative dollar in 10 years.
Does not make sense to me to offer some products for multiple years and others just for several months. After many decades of selling numismatic items one would think sales would be easy to predict, and there would be no reason to overproduce or undersupply the market. Seriously, the mint’s marketing team has been out to lunch. Tv networks hawk coins that don’t even exist yet, and ebay sellers use ‘pre-sales’ techniques as well. While i personally don’t care for those selling styles, perhaps the mint should do more selling to order like with the san fran set.
If I am not mistaken the 2011 AMERICAN EAGLE SILVER UNCIRCULATED COIN is also sold out.
Yes, forgot to add the asterisk.
@Boz, I totally agree, not sure if you watched Mike Mezak on HSN over new years eve/day over his 9 or so hour long shows where they were hawking 2013 ASE’s in ANACS MS70, they had a 2010 and 2012 ASE in the slabs, but creatively tried to keep the date hidden by the on screen graphics, but they managed to slip up every now and then where I could clearly see they did not have the 2013 in hand…Nice try…Not supirsied PCSG or NGC was not involved in that, only ANACS and ICG would slab a 2010/2012 into a 2013 holder for sale.
I watched that jimfan and wondered how they came up with an exact number of first day MS70s ???
@Hi Ho…Thought the same thing, using a non 2013 ASE. Unless they do in fact already have them and ANACS told them they either have 12,549 or they guarantee to have all of them one way or the other.
When was this 1st day of issue ?
Just curious why these numbers vary from the Mint Stats figures that were published yesterday by Numismatic News. I didn’t check every item but it seems all those that have asterisks (sold out) from the two sets of data vary, but the totals for those coins and sets still available are identical.
I put asterisks for anything that was sold out as of the time the article was published. Don’t know how they handle it.
