The latest weekly United States Mint numismatic product sales report includes the debut numbers for the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Dollar products. Gold numismatic products experienced a surge in sales this week, led by the 2013-W Uncirculated Gold Eagle.
On October 17, the US Mint began sales of rolls, bags, and boxes of circulating quality 2013 Woodrow Wilson Presidential Dollars. This represented the 28th release in the series and the final release for the year. Since 2012, the Presidential Dollars have not been released for circulation, but only issued within numismatic products, which has provided a boost in sales levels.
Across all available options, the US Mint recorded sales of 3,649,100 coins. This was up slightly from the prior release of the series, which had opening sales of 3,538,575 coins. The most popular product options by volume were the 25-coin rolls. The products accounting for the greatest number of coins sold were the 250-coin boxes. Orders were skewed towards the Philadelphia Mint issues for most options.
Last week, the US Mint reduced the prices for gold numismatic products coinciding with a drop in the market price of the metal. This seems to have attracted the attention of buyers, as sales for registered strong week-over-week increases for every gold numismatic product. The increases were led by the 2013-W Uncirculated Gold Eagle, which had weekly sales of 1,035 units compared to sales of just 5 units in the prior week. The individual 1 oz 2013-W Proof Gold Eagle also showed a large increase with sales of 973 units compared to 102 units in the prior week.
Even the 2012 First Spouse Gold Coins showed a hefty increase with weekly sales of 89 units across the available options compared to sales of 30 units in the prior week.
Other precious metals products also saw gains with all silver and platinum numismatic products showing increases on a week-over-week basis. The 2013-W Proof Silver Eagle was one of the week’s top sellers, adding 14,243 units to bring the cumulative sales total to 812,125.
The complete US Mint numismatic product sales report appears below. These figures are compiled through October 20, 2013. The first number column represents total sales through the reporting date, and the second number column represents the change in sales since the last report. Products shown in bold make their debut on this report. Products with sales followed by an asterisk (*) are no longer available from the United States Mint. Currently available US Mint products can be found online at http://catalog.usmint.gov/

i bet it is because the stock market made people feel rich.
I would like to know why the WP set production figure is still at 281,310 in your report. Are you waiting for a more accurate number, or do you feel the mintage figure the Mint has is not correct, and don’t want to mislead your readers?
The mintage figure for the Reverse Proof Buffalo has also been adjusted downward but is not reflect here either.
Sorry, I meant to use “reflected”, not “reflect”.
I know that different numbers appear by accessing the reports prior to the posting of the weekly figures, however I have no confirmation that these numbers are accurate. I have an inquiry in with the Mint and will wait for an official update to the numbers before changing the last reported sales figures.
Well, the WP figures are no longer showing lower on the US Mints web site. I guess we will have to wait.
