US Mint Sales: Margaret Taylor First Spouse Gold Coins Gain
The latest weekly US Mint sales report includes the debut figures for the last 2009-dated product to be released, as well as some interesting moves upwards for other products.
The Northern Mariana Islands Quarter First Day Coin Cover makes its debut on the sales report. This product originally went on sale January 12, 2010. Since that date, sales of 4,475 have been achieved. The product has a maximum authorized production of 15,000 20,000 units.
In the past week, the US Mint showed an increase in sales for the Margaret Taylor First Spouse Gold Coins. The proof version sold 261 and the uncirculated version sold 320. Sales of the coins began in December when the price of gold had reached an intermediate peak. As the price of gold pulled back, sales slowed and even recorded a negative weekly total for one of the options.
Another interesting product to watch is the 2009 Lincoln Cent Presidency Two Roll Sets, which showed their highest weekly sales figures in several weeks at 4,990. This product may have drawn some renewed interest due to the recently available 2009 Lincoln Cent Mintage figures, which revealed the 2009-P Presidency Cent to have the lowest production for a cent in more than five decades. The US Mint also recently removed the household ordering limit for the product.
The complete report of US Mint product sales has been included below. Total sales for each product are compiled as of January 17, 2010. The first number column represents the total sales to date, and the second number column represents the change in sales since the last report. Sales figures were not provided for recently sold out products listed as “NLA.”

With 2010 shaping up to be a year of nothing of real interest for yelow metal collectors, it might be a slow year for the mint. Bullion might be the only avenue.
