Today January 12, 2010, the United States Mint began sales of the Northern Mariana Islands Quarter First Day Coin Cover. This limited edition cover represents the final cover released for the District of Columbia and United States Territories Quarters Program.

The Northern Mariana Islands Quarter reverse design displays the wealth of natural resources of the islands across the land, air, and sea. The design includes a large Latte stone, which was used as a support in ancient structures, wild plants, native birds, and a sailing vessel. The scene is framed byu a head lei composed of native plants. The reverse was designed by United States Mint Sculptor Engraver Phebe Hemphill.
Each coin cover includes two Northern Mariana Islands Quarters mounted on a custom designed card. A 44-cent Flag stamp is canceled with a port mark November 30, 2009, Saipan, CNMI. This represents the first day that the new quarters were released into circulation.
This product carries a production limit of 20,000 units and has been priced at $14.95 plus shipping and handling.
