Ordering deadlines are approaching for holiday delivery of United States Mint products and availability of this year’s commemorative coin products featuring Louis Braille
The US Mint will guarantee delivery for any in-stock item to anywhere within the United States for orders placed by December 7, 2009 for standard delivery, and orders placed by December 11, 2009 for orders placed with express delivery. This guarantee does not apply to orders with credit card and billing issues.
The 2009 Louis Braille Bicentennial Silver Dollar products will only be available until December 11, 2009, 5:00 PM ET. Authorizing legislation for the program specifies that the United States Mint may only issue coins during the one year period beginning on January 1, 2009. In order to meet these requirements, the US Mint ends sales earlier.
Current Louis Braille Silver Dollar products include the uncirculated version of the coin (in regular or easy open capsule) priced at $33.95, the proof version of the coin priced at $41.95, and the Braille Education Set priced at $44.95. The set includes educational material on the Braille System of reading and writing for the blind and visually impaired, an example of readable Braille, and the uncirculated version of the coin. To date, combined sales across all product options have reached 213,818 coins out of a maximum authorized mintage of 400,000.
