The United States Mint has started accepting orders for a special numismatic product created to mark the arrival of a newborn baby. The 2013 Birth Set contains five proof coins housed in a specially designed folder.
Each set contains the 2013-dated Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, and Kennedy Half Dollar, as well as the first design of the year for the America the Beautiful Quarters Program featuring White Mountains National Forest. The five coins are struck to proof quality at the San Francisco Mint and bear the “S” mint mark.
The coins are housed within a folder containing images of a teddy bear and including spaces for a personalized welcome message, the baby’s statistics, a photograph, and a lock of the baby’s hair. The certificate of authenticity for the product appears on the back of the folder, and coin specifications appear on the sleeve.
The 2013 Birth Set is priced at $19.95 plus applicable shipping and handling. There are no product limits or household ordering limits imposed. Orders may be placed online at http://usmint.gov.
This represents the second year of release for the United States Mint’s Birth Set. This year, additional products in the line will include the “Happy Birthday Coin Set” and the “Congratulations Coin Set”.
