The United States Mint has released the 2015 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set. The numismatic product contains the proof versions of this year’s five different quarters.
All five of the quarters included in the set feature an obverse design containing a restored version of John Flanagan’s 1932 portrait of George Washington. The reverse design of each coin features a design representing a different national park or site. The locations selected for this year’s quarters include:
- Homestead National Monument of America in Nebraska
- Kisatchie National Forest in Louisiana
- Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina
- Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware
- Saratoga National Historical Park in New York
United States Mint proof coins are struck multiple times with specially treated and polished dies. The resulting coins feature sharp relief and a mirror like background. The frosted, sculpted foregrounds create a special cameo effect.
The proof coins included in this set are struck in the standard copper-nickel composition at the San Francisco Mint and carry the “S” mint mark.
The 2015 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set represents the sixth annual release for the program, which will feature a national park or site from each state, territory, and the District of Columbia. There is no mintage or household ordering limit for the product.
Pricing is $14.95 per set plus applicable shipping and handling. Orders may be placed online at http://catalog.usmint.gov/
