The U.S. Mint has established a price of $29.95 for its 225th Anniversary Enhanced Uncirculated Set (17XC), which is scheduled for release on August 1. The set consists of all the year’s denominations: Native American dollar, Kennedy half dollar, America the Beautiful quarters (5), Roosevelt dime, Jefferson nickel, and Lincoln cent. The coins have their regular compositions, but are struck with specially prepared dies that impart “laser frosted areas and an unpolished field that accentuates design details, creating a unique contrast distinctly different from the mirror-like finish of proof coins.”
The total face value of the set is $2.91. Given speculations that the set could be priced at $34.95 or even higher, many collectors have expressed relief at the $29.95 price tag. The product limit is 225,000; the lack of household order limit makes a fairly brisk sell-out likely.
The coins will be available to order at noon (Eastern time) on August 1, via the Mint’s website or by phone at 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468). Hearing- and speech-impaired customers with TTY equipment may order at 1-888-321-MINT. ❑

Ted, I agree with you as I’m sure several others do too. I missed out on the silver medals that sold out in two minutes or whatever it was. I was right in there. The site let me go all the way through the ordering process and when I hit the confirm order, I was told that the product was no longer available. All I wanted was two. I was so mad, I sent them an email that wasn’t very nice. I did get one enhanced uncirculated set, I heard that it sold out in 6 minutes. Hope you got yours.
