U.S. Mint Director Ventris C. Gibson participates in the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the 2022 World’s Fair of Money.
Last week, the U.S. Mint attended the 2022 World’s Fair of Money numismatic convention in Chicago. Mint Director Ventris C. Gibson and other staff members represented the Mint at the five-day event. Run by the American Numismatic Association (ANA), the convention brought together coin collectors, numismatic dealers, and mints from all over the world.
After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Mint was thrilled to be back at the World’s Fair of Money. Attendees agreed–many in the numismatic community were excited to see the Mint.
“It’s very important. The [U.S.] Mint is the largest coin dealer in the world, if you will, so we are honored to have the director and the Mint here,” commented ANA President Dr. Ralph Ross.
Director Gibson made her presence known. At the convention opening ceremony, Director Gibson shared how excited she was to be here among the numismatic community. She also assisted Dr. Ross with the official ribbon cutting at the start of the convention.
Director Gibson was available to the public throughout the week. She signed autographs and met with customers, often posing for pictures as well. She listened as customers provided feedback, expressed concerns, and shared stories.
Throughout the week, hundreds of coin enthusiasts visited the Mint’s booth to purchase numismatic products, talk to Mint employees, and find free Mint promotional and educational materials. The Mint launched the 2022 American Liberty silver medal while at the convention. As early as two hours before the on-sale time, people lined up to purchase the medal. The supply at the convention was diminished by the end of the week.
The World’s Fair of Money drew dozens of kids, helping to build the next generation of coin collectors. The Mint participated in the Kids Trivia Treasure Hunt, as well as the Young Numismatists (YN) program, providing free educational materials to participants. Director Gibson attended the YN program. In her remarks, she shared information about the Mint and its newest coin program, the American Women Quarters Program, and quizzed the group about honorees. She left the YN group inspired to keep collecting and learning.
After a successful return, the Mint is excited to continue to engage with the numismatic community. Check the Upcoming Events page to stay up to date with future Mint appearances at coin shows and other numismatic events.

Would like to say thanks and NoThanks!
First let me say I’ve been collecting directly from the mint for over 20 years.
I’m also a collector of Silver proof dollars along with other proof coins including Gold proof directly from mint.
Recently signed up for several more enrollments including uncirculated mint releases.
Have been collecting for over 20 years since my children were born to someday hopefully have them collectors as well. I have a total of 6 or more Enrollments that have my credit card information on file which I thought would be great so I don’t miss a dime because I work during the day.
As you all know the 22db silver metal release was recently released, somehow I was not given that coin, I called/because I started collecting one ounce proof high relief gold coins, which I thought were a bit pricey but for my 2 kids collection I had to get, like any other parent would do same. I hit the remind button left not only my phone number but email as well, only to be notified that your coin is available when I hit the tab another tab came up only to remind me once again, so I hit the remind button and left phone/email for second time only to be notified the same way once I clicked the tab, remind button appeared again, at this time I called spoke with a woman named Jessica told her of my concern and she felt and apologized and gave me her story as she was reading and telling me the same as customer service that I contacted as well, several times let’s say 10 emails I sent where all same you have reached we received and will pass to upper management to view, I ask Jessica to put me through to a manager, which even made me more upset because I was simply being ignored, I was on hold for almost 1 hour only to be told that she was unable to locate a manager, I sent emails saying well just cancel my 7 or more automatic enrollments which after I received like 8 emails one after another within 10 seconds they canceled All my enrollments that I’ve had for over 20 years. Just like I said a manager that Jessica said would call me back after I gave her All my contact information never happened, at this time no one has reached out to me, I’ve spent thousands of dollars on my collection which I feel was a hobby I was doing so someday my children would countinue. I emailed them again only to get the same automatic email “ upper management “ will be reviewing my account. Someone has to step up and do something Like I said All these coins are being scooped up by coin dealers and larger coin buyers what happened to the 3 coin limit I will never collect a coin in my life, someday I will give this collection to my kids and tell them to do same, sorry us mint that has NO UPPER MANAGEMENT!!!!!! Customer service at its worst!!!!! It’s not fair that they discriminate against people like myself. Not a happy man with the way they “ customer service read pre printed lines from thier computer to say, I’m sorry, and all the lies. Never ever buy a coin from the us mint again, thank you for ENDING my hobby as well as my children as well, buyers beware
