The Perth Mint of Australia has released the third coin within the Dragons of Legend series. The one ounce 99.9% pure silver proof coin features St. George and the Dragon and carries a limited mintage of 5,000 coins.
The reverse design of the coin features a dramatic rendering of St. George as he is about to slay the dragon. The background contains an ancient landscape with incriptions reading “Dragons of Legend”, “1 oz 999 Silver”, “St. George and the Dragon”, and the monetary denomination “$1”.
The obverse carries the Ian Rank Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the “2012” date and denomination. The coins are issued as Tuvalu legal tender and struck by the Perth Mint in Australia.
Each coin has a diameter of 40.60 mm, thickness of 4.00 mm, and weight of 31.125 grams. The fineness is 99.9% with silver content of 1 troy ounce. The coins are housed in a black presentation case with illustrated shipper and numbered certificate of authenticity. For each coin purchased, Coin Club Australia will make a $1.00 donation to UNICEF-Australia.
