On October 20, 2009, the Bulgarian National Bank released a gold commemorative coin featuring St. Dimitar the Wonderworker. The coins have a nominal value of 100 BGN and are struck in .999 gold.
The obverse of the coin depicts the logo of the Bulgarian National Bank. Inscriptions include the face value of "100 ЛЕВА" (100 BGN) and "БЪЛГАРСКА НАРОДНА БАНКА" (BULGARIAN NATIONAL BANK). The year "1879" is inscribed on the ribbon and the year of issue "2009" is above the logo.
The reverse of the coin features a replica of a woodcut by the artist Nickola Z. Klinkov created in 1870. An inscription above the image reads "СВ.ДИМИТЪР ЧУДОТВOРЕЦ" (St.Dimitar the Wonderworker’).
The coins will be struck in proof quality with a mintage of 4,000. Each coin has a diameter of 24 mm and weight of 8.64 grams. The coins will be sold at BNB teller desks for BGN 600.
