The Professional Numismatists Guild (PNG) will expand its multi-media educational program for interns into online classes open to all collectors and dealers.
The program includes two courses, each with its own focus. The Level 100 course provides an overview of numismatic operations, including information on marketing, auctions, coin shows, third-party grading, and industry resources. Level 200 concerns the science of numismatics, offering participants wide-ranging knowledge on metallurgy, the minting process, and the history of monetary systems.
“There are two levels of online classes developed by Karl Newman in conjunction with the University of Rare Coins and PNG’s Edward C. Milas School of Numismatics,” explained PNG Executive Director Robert Brueggeman. “We are making these available online to anyone who wants to increase their knowledge of numismatics, from the minting process to the business of buying and selling coins.”
Both classes are covered by the program’s $300 fee. A PNG press release points out that Certificates of Completion will be awarded to those who finish the courses.
The Professional Numismatists Guild is a nonprofit organization founded in 1953. Its members include prominent rare coin and paper money dealers who agree to adhere to a strict code of ethics for all numismatic transactions.
