The Perth Mint has released the 2014 Australian Kangaroo High Relief Silver Proof Coin. The coin features a depiction of the iconic marsupial rendered in stunning relief.
The reverse design of the coin features a depiction of an adult kangaroo sitting on its haunches with the background containing a fence on a rural Australian property. Inscriptions include “Australian Kangaroo” above and “2014 1 oz 999 Silver” below. The reverse was designed by Tom Vaugn.
On the obverse is the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions include “Elizabeth II”, “Australia”, and the legal tender face value of “1 Dollar”.
Both the obverse and reverse of the coin are struck in high relief on concave surfaces, ensuring optimum flow of metal is achieved by the strike of the die.
Each coin is struck in 1 troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver to proof quality. The diameter is 32.60 mm with a maximum thickness of 6.00 mm. The coins are packaged in a classic grey display case with an illustrated shipper and accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
The Perth Mint has indicated an issue limit of 19,000 coins in this packaging from an overall maximum mintage of 20,000 coins. For additional information or to place an order, please visit the Perth Mint product page.
