The Perth Mint has recently released the first issue with a new collector coin series- Australian Bush Babies II. This new series follows the success of the original series inspired by the young of Australia’s iconic animals and will feature designs of a baby kookaburra, possum, platypus, echidna, and wombat on one-half ounce .999 fine silver proof coins.
The first design of the series featuring the Baby Kookaburra is currently available for sale. Native to Australia, the kookaburra is part of the kingfisher family of birds and is best known for call, which sounds uncannily like human laughter. The reverse design of the coin features a color depiction of a curious and mischievous baby kookaburra, along with frosted representations of an Australian insect and bush flowers. The obverse of the coin includes the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
“The original Australian Bush Babies series proved so popular among collectors that each coin sold out in record time after its release”, said Perth Mint Sales and Marketing Director, Ron Currie.
“With more delightful designs now available, we expect animal lovers from around the world will be equally enthusiastic about this new series.”
The maximum mintage for the Bush Babies II Kookaburra coins is 10,000 pieces. Each coin is housed in a presentation display case with illustrated shipper and numbered certificate of authenticity.
Future releases of the series will be unveiled throughout the next twelve months. A subscription option is available.
