The Perth Mint has issued a stamp and cover cover in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s upcoming 90th birthday, which will take place on April 21. The limited edition cover includes an original Australia Post stamp and $1 coin, both carrying 90th birthday designs created for the occasion. Available for $16.32 AUD ($12.44 USD), only 8,500 of these issues will be sold.
The reverse of the $1 coin features a stylized crown motif and the inscriptions H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II, 90th BIRTHDAY, 21-4-2016, and the Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark. The obverse carries Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of the Queen with ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA 2016, and 1 DOLLAR inscribed along the rim of the coin.
The coin is composed of 13.5 grams of aluminum bronze. The stamp and coin cover carries an image of the Queen and includes a window that displays both the obverse and reverse of the dollar. A seal of authenticity is included on an outer envelope, along with the postage stamp, which has been postmarked for the first day of issue, April 5, 2016.
