The Perth Mint of Australia has released kilo-sized gold and silver coins which celebrate the 60 year reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The coins feature an identical design and are struck from 1 kilo of 99.99% pure gold or 1 kilo of 99.9% pure silver with limited mintages.
“The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is a remarkable moment in history, and we’re delighted to celebrate the Royal milestone with commemoratives that are quite literally crowning achievements”, said Ron Currie, Perth Mint Sales and Marketing Director.
The reverse design of each coin features St. Edward’s Crown with the inscription “Diamond Jubilee” above and the dates “1952-2012” below. Surrounding the image are 60 diamond motifs to represent each year of Her Majesty’s reign.
The obverse design features the Ian Rank-Broadly effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The weight and purity of the gold or silver content is inscribed, along with the 2012 date, and legal tender face value of the coin.
The 1 kilo silver coin is limited to a mintage of 600 pieces, while the 1 kilo gold coin is limited to just 60 pieces. Each coin comes in a display case with a foiled and embossed shipper, accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
