The Perth Mint of Australia has released the latest monthly figures for the total ounces of gold and silver sold as coins and minted bars. Gold sales dipped to the second lowest level of the year, while silver sales were flat compared to recent months.
In July, sales of silver as coins and minted bars measured 577,988 troy ounces. This compared to similar sales of 586,358 ounces in the prior month. Sales were markedly lower compared to the year ago period of July 2013 when sales had reached 697,247 ounces.
For the year to date, silver sales have reached 4,006,324 ounces. This is down by 10.6% compared to year ago period when sales had reached 4,480,840 ounces.

Sales of gold as coins and minted products reached 25,103 during July. This was down from the prior month when sales were 39,405 and less than half of the sales from the year ago period when sales were 56,488 ounces.
Year to date gold sales have reached 266,094 ounces. This is down a substantial 42.4% compared to the year ago period when sales had reached 462,113 ounces.
Perth Mint bullion sales should see a boost in September when the new designs for popular series are released. The Australian Koala, Australian Kookaburra, Australian Kangaroo, and Australian Lunar series each feature new reverse designs created for each year of the series.
