The Perth Mint has released the 2013 Australian Kangaroo High Relief 1 oz. Silver Proof Coin. This popular annual release features a depiction of the iconic kangaroo rendered in stunning high relief.
The reverse design of the coin features an adult kangaroo within an outback desert scene. Inscriptions around the outer circumference include “AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO” and “2013 1 OZ 999 SILVER”. The Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark is also incorporated. The obverse design features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The surrounding inscriptions include “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA”, and “1 DOLLAR”.
Both the obverse and reverse designs are minted on concave surfaces to ensure optimum metal flow is achieved by the strike of the die. This results in an extra deep blank which creates an impressive appearance for the design.
Each coin is struck with 1 troy ounce of silver in 99.9% purity. The diameter is 32.60 mm, and the maximum thickness is 6.00 mm.
For this product, the coins are housed in a display case with illustrated shipper and accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity. The Perth Mint will release no more than 19,000 of the 2013 Australian Kangaroo High Relief 1 oz Silver Proof Coins in this packaging from an overall maximum mintage of 20,000 pieces.
