Numismatic Guaranty Corporation has re-designed its holder, adding a larger label with an increased flush-left font size that will provide more options for graphic design as well as more room for CAC and other stickers.
The size and other features of the holder remain the same, featuring the company’s sonically sealed display containing watermarks, updated holograms and proprietary information to prevent counterfeiting.
While the flush-left design adds white space for stickers or longer VAM, provenance or other descriptions, those considerations were not a paramount design decision for NGC, states Vice President Scott Schechter. “The flush-left justified text and larger label allow for more readable, fuller descriptions. With special labels, the space at right is used for graphic elements.”
“The label has the same holographic foil and UV watermarks as our previous version,” he adds. “Size is the major consideration. Obviously this means all new cores, so we’re continuing to refine the prongs and the way coins are housed. The back of the holder has an advanced hologram fused to the case. We push our hologram vendors to keep this aspect of our holder cutting edge.”
As new holographic technologies are developed, Schechter notes, the company incorporates them into our holder.
The new label (left, below) features the larger font and adds the full corporate name. From a design aspect, the label is cleaner with ample white space. Here’s a comparison with the last generation label (right, below):
“The redesign honors NGC’s past holders and yet is fresh and modern,” Schechter says. “Like all design changes, I’m sure it will take some time for everyone to acclimate.”
