The U.S. Mint’s Office of Corporate Communications has reported the early sales figures for the 2017 Lions Clubs International Century of Service commemorative silver coins.
The Proof and Uncirculated strikes were made available for sale at noon on January 18. From that time until through Sunday, January 22, the Mint recorded the following sales figures:
- 2017 Lions Club Silver Proof coins (17CH): 19,244
- 2017 Lions Club Silver Uncirculated coins (17CJ): 5,926
Both coins are still in the introductory-pricing phase of their release. Until 3 p.m. on February 21, 2017, the Uncirculated coin’s introductory price is $46.95; the Proof version’s introductory price is $47.95. After the cutoff time, their regular prices will be $51.95 and $52.95, respectively.
The Mint’s second commemorative coin series of 2017—the Boys Town gold $5, silver $1, and clad half dollar—is expected to be released in March. ❑
