The Central Bank of Malta has released new silver Proof collector crown coins, which are in honour o the bicentenary anniversary of one of the world’s most outstanding chemists and medical researchers of the 19th century.
The silver Proof-quality coins are produced by the Royal Dutch Mint at their facilities in Houten, Netherlands, on behalf of the Central Bank of Malta. Designed and engraved by Maria Anna Frisone, the reverse side of the coins depicts an image of Louis Pasteur based on an actual photograph taken in the late 1880s and shows him facing toward the left. The obverse of the coin is designed by artisan engraver Noel Galea Bason and features the coat of arms of Malta along with the coin’s denomination of 10 EURO and the year of issue 2022.
