The latest release within the Royal Canadian Mint’s “$20 for $20” silver commemorative coin program features a magical reindeer for the upcoming holiday season. This represents the sixth release in the series, with all five previous releases sold out.
The reverse design of the coin features a depiction of a magical reindeer designed by Virginia Boulay. Inscriptions include the “20 Dollars” face value, “Fine Silver Argent Pur 9999”, the date “2012”, and “Canada”. The obverse of the coin contains the Susanna Blunt portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
Each coin is struck in 99.99% pure silver to specimen quality. The diameter is 27 mm and the weight is 7.96 grams (0.256 troy ounces). A maximum mintage of 250,000 pieces has been established with an ordering limit of three per household.
