The United States Mint has started accepting orders for the 2015 Kisatchie National Forest Quarters in numismatic bags and rolls. Circulating quality coins struck at either the Philadelphia, Denver, or San Francisco Mint facilities are available across six different product options.
This coin represents the second release of the year and the twenty-seventh release overall within the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. Launched in 2010, the program typically features five annual releases representing a national park or site from each state, territory, and the District of Columbia in the order federally designated.
The reverse design of the Kisatchie Quarter features a depiction of a wild turkey in flight over blue stem grass with long leaf pine in the background. The inscriptions include “Kisatchie”, “Louisiana”, “2015”, and the motto “E Pluribus Unum”. The reverse was designed by Susan Gamble and engraved by Joseph Menna.
The obverse of the coin features the 1932 portrait of George Washington designed by John Flanagan. The same obverse design has been used across all issues of the program. The inscriptions read “United States of America”, “Liberty”, “In God We Trust”, and the denomination “Quarter Dollar”.
Products available from the United States Mint include single 40-coin rolls containing coins with the “S” mint mark priced at $18.95; two rolls sets containing one 40-coin roll each with “P” and “D” mint marks priced at $32.95 per set; and three roll sets containing one 40-coin roll each with the “P”, “D”, and “S” mint marks priced at $46.95 per set.
