The Perth Mint has released the 2012 High Relief Australian Kangaroo Silver Proof Coin. This is the third year that a high relief Silver Kangaroo coin has been offered.
The reverse design of the coin features a kangaroo set in the outback with a bush scene and a windmill in the background. The inscriptions include “Australian Kangaroo” above and “2012 1 oz 999 Silver” below. The coins include the Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark.
A portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank Broadley appears on the obverse. The inscriptions read “Elizabeth II”, “Australia”, and “1 Dollar”.
The high relief coins are made with an extra deep blank to accommodate the high relief design. The surfaces of both the obverse and reverse are concave to ensure optimum flow of metal is achieved.
Each coin has a diameter of 32.60 mm and thickness of 6.00 mm. The precious metals content is 1 troy ounce of .999 silver. The coin is housed in a display case with an illustrated shipper and numbered certificate of authenticity.
