The 2012-P Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin is now available for sale at the United States Mint. This is the numismatic version of the five ounce silver coin series featuring the designs of the America the Beautiful Quarters.
The America the Beautiful Quarters Program features unique reverse designs representing a national park or site in each of the 50 states, 5 territories, and the District of Columbia. These are presented at a rate of five new designs per year, with a single design for the final year of the series in 2021. The authorizing legislation provided for a unique silver bullion coin program featuring duplicates of the quarter designs. The United States Mint has also issued numismatic versions of each bullion coin bearing the “P” mint mark and a uncirculated finish.
The reverse design of the Hawaii Volcanoes Five Ounce Silver Coin features an eruption on the east rift of Kilauea Volcano, designed and sculpted by Charles L. Vickers. Inscriptions include “Hawai’i Volanoes”, “Hawaii”, “2012”, and “E Pluribus Unum”. The obverse design features the 1932 portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan with inscriptions “United States of America”, “Liberty”, “In God We Trust”, and the nominal face value of “Quarter Dollar”.
This numismatic release carries a maximum mintage of 25,000 pieces. There are no household ordering limits in place, and pricing is currently $204.95 per coin.
