The patron of the award scheme is the country’s president, currently Mrs. Mary McAleese.

The coin is available in silver with a €10 face value and in gold with a €20 face value. Both coins illustrate the front of the Presidential Residence along with a line of young people below the building working towards achieving their goals.
The sterling silver coin is 38.6 mm. in diameter and weighs 28.2 grams. The .999 fine gold coin is 13.9 mm. in diameter and weighs 1.0 gram. Both are struck in proof quality. The coins are sold separately or as a set directly from the Central Bank of Ireland.
