The Perth Mint of Australia has released the 2013 Forever Love 1/2 oz. Silver Proof Coin. This popular annual release has sold out for the past two years and makes an ideal Valentine’s Day or Wedding Gift.
The reverse design of the coin by Aleysha Howarth depicts two dolphins in a heart-shaped motif with an idyllic sunset over the ocean in the background. The colored scene is framed in a stylized heart with the words “Forever Love” below. As a symbol of love, the dolphin represents the ideal qualities of friendship, loyalty, peace and harmony, with the ocean embodying depth of feeling and eternity.
The obverse of the coin features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions include the “2013” date and monetary denomination of “50 cents”. The coins are issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu.
Each coin is struck in 0.50 troy ounces of 99.9% pure silver. The diameter of the coin is 36.60 mm with a thickness of 2.30 mm. Presented in a display case with colored shipper, no more than 7,500 of these coins will be released by the Perth Mint.
