The Sales Agency for Collector Coins of the Federal Republic of Germany (Verkaufsstelle für Sammlermünzen der Bundesrepublik Deutschland) has issued a new 10 Euro silver coin to mark 20 years of German unity.
The unification process officially concluded on the 3rd October 1990, with the the German Democratic Republic joining the Federal Republic of Germany. The capital of the new unified country was situated once again in Berlin.
The obverse of the 10 Euro silver coin shows the current geo-political map of Germany with the text “WIR SIND EIN VOLK” (We Are One People) along with the coin’s commemorative legend “20 JAHRE DEUTSCHE EINHEIT” (20 Years of German Unity). The reverse of the coin carries a stylized image of the Federal Republic’s eagle symbol along with “BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND” (FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY), the value of 10 EURO, the year of issue 2010, and the mintmark after the year.
The composition of the coin is .925 silver with both proof and FDC qualities available. Each coin weighs 18 grams and has a diameter of 32.5 mm.
